On October 20, the Figure Skating Russian Cup Rostelecom 3rd stage ended at Platinum Arena Ice Arena. It is one of the test events of the Winter Universiade 2019. About 150 athletes are expected to participate in the competitions. They will compete in Individual Skating, Pairs and Ice Dance in the following categories: adults (Masters of Sport, men and women) and juniors (Candidates for Master of Sport, men and women). Eight sets of medals will be awarded to the winners.
The best figure skaters from different parts of Russia will step on the ice of new Platinum Arena Ice Arena. It has the greatest capacity comparing with other ice venues of Krasnoyarsk and is the second largest ice arena beyond the Urals. Platinum Arena Ice Arena seats 7 000 spectators. Multifunctionality of the complex will allow to hold training sessions for national and regional teams in ice sports, as well as to organize large-scale cultural events.
The Figure Skating Russian Cup Rostelecom 3rd stage is a part of the series of annual Russian figure skating competitions. It has been held under the aegis of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia since 2000. The competition stages usually take place in the period from September to December while the final competitions are traditionally held in February. During the Russian Cup stages, athletes are selected for the Russian Championships and the Russian Cup Final. Krasnoyarsk will host competitions of such a high level for the first time.
