Media accreditation for the Winter Universiade 2019 is organized in two stages: first of all, a media organisation submits an application. The application form is available on the Winter Universiade 2019 official website. Please note that only one application is accepted from each organisation. Once the application is approved, a username and a password to access organisation’s personal account will be sent to the email address specified during registration. In the personal account, the organisation fills in a form for each representative. All submitted applications will be considered before 2 February 2019.

Ten press centres at the sports venues as well as press zones in the Universiade Park and the Universiade Village will be set up to help organize the work of media during the Games. Each press centre will have work places equipped with Wi-Fi access, reference information desks, mixed zones for interviews, press conference halls, photo positions, media stands with Internet access, lockers, and lounge zones with hot beverages and light snacks available. In addition to this, accredited journalists will have access to a special information service providing them with the latest updates on competitions, news, photos and videos.

Non-resident media representatives will be transferred from the airport or railway station to the accredited media residences in Krasnoyarsk. Where necessary, the Organising Committee will also assist in accommodation booking. It should be noted that media representatives will pay for transportation to and from Krasnoyarsk, as well as for accommodation in the Winter Universiade 2019 capital.

In total, the Winter Universiade 2019 is expected to be covered by at least 1,000 journalists from different countries. At the same time, the following accreditation limits apply: no more than nine representatives of television broadcasting companies, no more than two representatives of radio stations, and no more than four representatives of student media; five applications more are allocated to news agencies and online media, and four applications for print media.

All television broadcasters will adhere to special rules during the competitions. It is prohibited to film sport events from the stands and photo positions, as the events will be broadcast on television by the host broadcaster. Nevertheless, video operators are allowed to use their equipment in mixed zones to interview the athletes, in the press conference halls, common areas and the territory in front of the venues. Twice a day, all the accredited media are provided with highlights to prepare their own news clips.

At the same time, in accordance with the requirements of the Russian legislation on communications and in order to avoid any interferences at the sports venues of the Winter Universiade 2019, special regulations will apply to the use of electronic devices: radio microphones, remote controls for photographic equipment, wireless video cameras, radio stations, Wi-Fi routers, radio communication devices of all types and other equipment using wireless access. To use electronic devices on the premises of sports venues, a permit and a special label are required. Detailed instructions may be found in the attachment.

Let us remind that the Universiade is a competition for students, a youth Olympics analogue (derived from the words "university" and "Olympiad”). The Universiade has been the second most important multi-sport event in the world for over 50 years. The Games are held by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) every two years. Students, postgraduates and graduates of higher education institutions aged under 25 can participate in the Universiade.

The Winter Universiade 2019 held in Krasnoyarsk from 2 to 12 March, 2019 will be the first Winter Universiade in the history of Russia. Athletes will compete for 76 sets of medals in 11 different sports: Biathlon, Cross-Country Skiing, Ice Hockey, Alpine Skiing, Curling, Snowboard, Figure Skating, Short Track Speed Skating, Freestyle Skiing, Ski Orienteering, and Bandy. 5 thousand volunteers will assist in this university sport event.
