Krasnoyarsk Bandy Team Played Against Sweden National Team at Yenisei Ice Stadium
The friendly games between Yenisei Bandy Club and Sweden national team took place in Krasnoyarsk. Yenisei Ice Stadium, that was built for the Winter Universiade 2019, hosted three games. Krasnoyarsk team came out on top of a 2:1 score.
In the first game, which also became the first for the Yenisei Bandy Club in the home arena after the Universiade, Krasnoyarsk team lost 5:6 to the Sweden national team. Sergey Lomanov, the Winter Universiade 2019 Ambassador and ten-time World champion in bandy, became the best scorer of this game with 4 goals.
In the second game Krasnoyarsk took a convincing revenge. As in the first game, the Swedes held up well, but before the break Yenisei team managed not only to tie the game, but also to gain the lead. After the break, the Siberians began to play even more confidently, adding in speed. As a result, Yenisei won the game by the score of 8:3.
In the final game the Yenisei team beat Sweden 7:1.
For the first time in the history, Yenisei Bandy Club and Sweden national team went toe-to-toe. These games opened the 2019/2020 game season. Very soon now, Yenisei will play in the first official tournament of the season. From September 21-28, the Russian Cup 1st stage will be held in Krasnoyarsk.
It is worth reminding that for the first time in the history of Universiades Bandy was included in the Winter Universiade 2019 Sports Programme. At the debut tournament, the Sweden women’s team won the final against Russia, while Russia won a well-earned victory in the men’s final. The "gold" of the men's team was the 100th medal of the host country at the Universiade.
